MJC remembers Dr Job

August 19, 2013 was the 1st death anniversary of our foudner chairman Dr.P.P.Job The whole family of MJC assembled at the auditorium to remember him and to share the wonderful memories we had about him.

We started our by a prayer given by Rev.Fr.Jino Philip. Condolence speech by given by Dr.Lali Thomas Principal of arts and science college, Mr.Devanesan Sanjeevi,  Principal of  B.Ed college and Mrs.Geetha vice principal of B.Ed college.

Our students also had many things to share. Ms.Lilly BBA (1st year), Ms.Akila B.A (3rd year) from Arts & Science College and Ms.Suma of class IX, Ms.Aileen Joseph of class X and Anne Joseph of class IX spoke emotionally about the wonderful time they had with Dr Job and the great stories they heard and the lessons they learned from him


The Concluding speech was by Mr.Mathew Philip Deputy CEO of Michael & John Job Institution.

MJC Guest Lecture Series - Justice System and You by Jayasankar Nambiar

At MJC we organize guest lectures by people with diverse experience. This helps to provide wider exposure to our children and gives them opportunity to interact with people with different background.

On 30th September we had with us Adv Jayashankar Nambiar an eminent lawyer from Ernakulam. He is an alumni of Lawrence School, Lovedale and currently has a very successful practice in Ernakulan High Court.

He did a fabulous job in sharing with the children different aspects of legal profession. He covered fundamentals of legal system, what the relevance of laws and regulations in a civilized society, scool and college, what is expected from each citizen in upholding law. His talk was so lucid and simple and the children of college and school enjoyed. 


He also explained the opportunities in building a career in Law

MJC Guest Lecture Series - Retail Details by Johnny John

At MJC we organise guest lectures by eminent personalities with wide ranging experience in the Industry. This gives an opportunity for the children to learn about the world around and also help them to plan for their life and career. We arrange for these talks both for the college students and for school students suitably tuning this for their level of maturity.

The latest in series was from Mr Johnny John on the topic “Opportunities in the Retail Industry” He has excellent experience in this field in India, South East Asia with companies like Reebok, Mahindra Retail etc at very senior positions. He explained in simple language what the retail industry is all about and what kind of opportunity is there and what kind of preparations is required to do well.

First Dr. P.P. Job Memorial Lecture

On 19th August 2012, Dr Job our founding chairman passed away. In his memory, his friends and well-wishers decided to establish a Dr Job Memorial Lecture. The first lecture was held on 18th August at Mavlankar Auditorium New Delhi.

About 400 people attended this wonderfully organised program. Dr Jospeph Marthoma, the Metropolitan of Marthomma Church was the chief guest.

In his welcome address Mr T Koshy described at length the work of Michael & John Job Centre (MJC) the centre of education established by Dr Job for empowering economically challenged girl children through education. He updated the status of MJC and how it has been able to stabilize and continue successfully in the last one year. He exhorted all friends and well-wishers to support (financially or as
volunteers) in taking MJC forward.

Dr (Mrs) Mary Job in her presidential address elaborated how MJC stands for Job’s vision of Love in Action.


Dr Cyriac Thomas
Dr Cyriac Thomas Member National Commission for Minority Education delivered the first lecture. The focus of his lecture was “Value Concepts in Public Life”.




Justice Cyriac Joseph
Justice Cyriac Joseph retired Supreme Court Justice and Member of National Human Rights Commission talked eloquently on how one can be a practising Christian and be an example in every walk of his life. He also released a book titled "A LIFE THAT BUBBLED FOR CHRIST: DR. P.P. JOB" which is a collection of articles on him written by many who has had the opportunity to be associated with him. He released the book by presenting a copy to Mr Anto Antony who is one of the most respected and celebrated Member of Parliament from Kerala

MJC Convocation

On 6th July we had our convocation for the year 2013. We at MJC celebrate our convocation in a unique way. Convocation is just not for those who complete graduation and post graduation. We celebrate each key milestone in the journey of education of the angels in MJC. Move from KG to Primary, High School to Senior High School (class 10 to 11) completion of Senior High School (class 12), Completion of Graduation, Completion of Post Graduation, Completion of Bachelor in Education and so on.

We also use this occasion to honour those among us who have outstanding academic achievements in college or university level.

This year we were blessed with a distinguished panel of dignitaries among us for the convocation. What made their presence more special for us was that they did not join us as celebrities gracing the occasion, they were with us as well wishers and supporters who would continue to advice and support the vision of MJC.

Dr Cyriac Thomas
As the chief guest we had Dr Cyriac Thomas, Member National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions. He is a Ph D in Political Science and had a distinguished academic career spanning four decades. Prior to this current assignment, he was the Vice Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi University. In his address, he commented on the scale and scope MJC has managed in a short time.

We had Dr Indira Rajaraman a sitting board member of the Reserve Bank of India A Ph D in Economics from Cornell, she had illustrious career at Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, National Institute of Public Finance and Policy and Indian Statistical Institute. Later she was member of 13th Finance Commission. She gave a special message to the children on how education can change their life.

MJC students manage 100 % pass in SSC board exams

MJC students have come out with flying colours in their SSC board exams (class 10) in 2013. 100% of students have cleared the exams.

80% students have first class and 35% have distinction.

Citizenship Training Camp- 2013

Citizenship Training Camp was conducted in Michael Job Memorial College of Education for Women for 4 days from 22 – 25 January 2013.The primary objective of the camp was to sensitize the students about the fundamental rights, duties and responsibilities prescribed in the Indian constitution. We followed two modes for the participants to learn. We had seminars by experts in the field. Secondly the students searched out information from various sources. The students were encouraged to internalize the message by organizing competitions on topic related to citizenship.
The camp started with an inaugural function on 22nd forenoon at 10 o’clock. The Chief Guest and Trustee Mr. Babu P Varu in his address, specially congratulated our student Mrs. S. Kalaiselvi, who achieved the university rank in M.Ed last year. He also announced a gold medal worth Rs. 10000/ for our students who gets university first rank. The Guest of Honour Dr. Stanley Peter spoke on how the teachers should adapt their teaching style to match the maturity and level of exposure of the students.
Seminar by Prof Sugumaran
In the afternoon session Prof. V. Sugumaran, Faculty of History from Government Arts College, Coimbatore delivered a comprehensive seminar on the requisites for democracy which included constitutional clauses for fundamental rights, duties etc. Five other topics were discussed during the course of the camp by different eminent persons including women’s rights. The film show in the evening on prevention of road accidents was very informative and thought provoking. In this film there was footage of real life accidents at an accident prone curve on the national highway.

The competitions conducted were elocution, drawing and painting, poetry writing in addition to sports and games. Mr. S. Jeyaraj moderated a debate on women safety in the present context. The students demonstrated their handicraft skills by making socially useful products and works for which individual and group prizes had been announced.   Totally 115 prizes were given away. The participants made a visit to the two famous museums in the city; G D Naidu museum and GASS forest museum. In the same evening, we had a camp fire which every one enjoyed as members of one family.

Dr. R. Indirani from Government college of Education for Women Coimbatore was the Guest of Honour for the valedictory and prize distribution function and delivered a nice talk. Mrs. Elizabeth FK one of the trustees was the Chief Guest who distributed the prizes to winners of the competitions.

The camp ended with the special event; oath taking administered by Principal Dr. D. Devanesan Sanjeevi , Mr.M.Sachithanandam in English and Tamil.
Special thanks to the Camp Coordinator Mrs. A. Geetha who had made elaborate arrangements for the success of the camp.

Renaissance - MJC Cultural Festival


MJC launched our cultural Festival, Renaissance, on 28th January 2013. This inter-collegiate competition was organized by Michael Job College of Arts and Science for Women.  In this first year of Renaissance there were competitions in eight categories in the areas of music, dance, elocution and arts. 

About 100 participants from around 20 colleges competed with vigor and enthusiasm. First and Second Price winners were rewarded with gold coins sponsored by Chemmanur International Jewelers.

Mr Kishore Sodha  a renowned and charismatic trumpeter who has played in many of the famous Bollywood movies and has performed with world renowned musicians stole the heart of the students with some of the hit songs. He was also kind enough to play the role of a judge for the music competition.

Students of Kongu Nadu Arts and Science College bagged the Rolling Trophy constituted in memory of  Late Dr P P Job, Founder of MJC.

After the price giving the students of MJC College gave a scintillating performance that entertained all.

Renaissance-13 would not have been a success but for the active participation from so many colleges around Coimbatore.

Every student of the MJC colleged worked hard to make this a success. Special credit goes to Dr Lali Thomas Principal of Michael Job College of Arts and Science for Women and  Dr.G.Nithya, Ms.S.Ponnammal Mrs.S.R.Dhanalakshmi, Ms.Mekala, Ms.Aruna Priya,  Ms.Karthika, Ms.Pradeepa, Dr.Vasugi and Ms.Deepa, Asst. Professors of the college for their leadership and support in organizing this event brilliantly.

Paper Presented by MJC Principle

The association of Principles of Colleges of Bharathiar University organized a National Conference of Higher Education on 9th   February, 2013.. Dr. Lali Thomas Principal of Michael Job College of Higher Education for Women presented a paper on Innovation in Higher Education in this conference which was very well accepted.

University Rank for MJC Student

Mrs. S. Kalaiselvi, M.Ed.  Batch of 2011-12 got first rank in the Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University. This is the only university in whole of Tamil Nadu which offers B. Ed and M. Ed degrees. She was falicitated by the Governor Shri K Rosaiah at a function held at Chennai on 30th December, 2012.
